The effect of carburizer for vermicular iron on vermicular graphite cast iron
1. It can effectively control the sulfur element. Vermicular graphite cast iron requires similar chemical composition of raw molten iron to ductile cast iron. The key lies in high carbon and low sulfur. Sulfur is a harmful substance in vermicular graphite cast iron. The more sulfur, the more sulfide and slag are formed, which harms the material and accelerates the creep. Therefore, in the production of vermicular graphite cast iron, it is necessary to ensure that the sulfur content in the original molten iron is low. In view of the fact that the sulfur content of the recarburizer for compact iron can reach less than 300ppm, the sulfur content in the molten iron can be minimized.
2. Effectively control nitrogen. Nitrogen vents are one of the common defects in casting production. They are generated inside, on or near the surface of castings, and are irregular in shape such as circles of varying sizes. The nitrogen content of the recarburizer for vermicular iron can be less than 100ppm, which can effectively ensure the extremely low level of nitrogen in the molten iron and reduce nitrogen pore defects.
3. It can enhance the graphite morphology in the vermicular iron to make it uniform and delicate, and the number of graphite balls increases, which greatly improves the impact resistance and fatigue resistance of the vermicular iron parts. Under good conditions of graphite vermicular graphite, pearlite vermicular graphite cast iron has high strength and hardness, and strong wear resistance. The ferritic vermicular graphite cast iron has good thermal conductivity. Under the affection of high temperature, there is no pearlite decomposition problem, and the structure is relatively stable. The soft and brittle graphite will easily cause cracks in the graphite cast iron along the graphite cluster, affecting the service life and improving the ball It can improve the roundness of graphite spheres, reduce the diameter of graphite spheres, and improve the performance of vermicular graphite cast iron.
