Carburizer for Iron Casting

The carburizer for iron casting is suitable for the adjustment process of carbon equivalent in the smelting process of gray cast iron and nodular cast iron, and can significantly improve the distribution quantity and quality of graphite in the casting, and achieve high-quality metallographic structure.

According to the crystal structure of carbon in the carburizer, the carburizer can be divided into an amorphous state and a crystalline state; according to the existence of carbon atoms, it can be divided into a graphitized carbon raiser and a non-graphitized carbon raiser. Graphitized carburizers mainly include graphitized petroleum coke and broken graphite electrodes. Graphitized petroleum coke carburizers are widely used in the foundry industry. The production process is to heat the raw petroleum coke at a high temperature of 3000 ℃ in a graphitization furnace to transform the amorphous carbon of the petroleum coke into three-dimensional ordered graphite crystals. The disposal process, that is, go through the graphitization process, and reach the graphitized state. The main indicators for measuring the quality of recarburizers include fixed carbon content, sulfur content, volatile content, ash content, nitrogen content, and moisture. After the graphitized recarburizer is processed by high-temperature graphitization, the sulfur and nitrogen content is much lower than that of the non-graphitized recarburizer.


The absorption rate of the carburizer for cast iron can reach more than 90% in the molten iron; adopts the method of layered addition of scrap steel and the carburizer, the absorption rate of the carburant by the molten iron is 60% to 80%; adopts the first addition of cast iron to carburant In the method of smelting scrap steel by heating up the agent, the absorption rate of the molten iron to the carburant is 80% to 90%. It can be seen that the key to improving the absorption rate of the carburant in the synthetic cast iron process is that the carburant should be added early, the heating time should be long, and the high temperature section should be sufficient.

Strictly speaking, adding a carburant is not simply to increase the carbon content, but an important measure to increase the graphite nucleation core in the casting, obtain a better matrix structure, and improve the macro-mechanical properties. But not all recarburizers can achieve the above effects. The production of qualified recarburizers must undergo rigorous selection of materials, and then undergo high-temperature graphitization. In the process, not only impurities such as sulfur, nitrogen, ash, volatile matter, and moisture are reduced, their purity is improved, and the arrangement of carbon atoms undergoes a qualitative change. Make it more effectively embedded in the cast iron structure, while avoiding the generation of nitrogen holes.
