Application note of Carburizer for Electric Furnaces
1. The sulfur content in the carburant should be low. Generally, a carburant with a sulfur content of less than 0.05% should be used to prevent the sulfur content in the molten iron from being too high.
2. A carburant with less nitrogen should be selected. Excessive nitrogen content in the carburant will cause nitrogen pore defects. Nitrogen pores are one of the common defects in the production process of castings. The usual mass fraction of nitrogen in cast iron molten iron is below 100 ppm. If the nitrogen content exceeds this concentration (150-200 ppm or higher), it is easy to cause cracks, shrinkage or porosity in the castings, and thick-walled castings are more likely to occur.
3. The fixed carbon and ash content in the carbon raiser are its main indicators. Excessive ash content will inhibit the carbon raiser and increase the working time and labor cost. From the perspective of the carbon raiser efficiency, the fixed carbon content of the carbon raiser should be high, and ash content should be low.
