The stirring of molten iron can promote the carbonization. Therefore, compared with the power frequency induction furnace with strong stirring force, the medium frequency induction furnace with weak stirring force is more difficult to increase carbon. Therefore, the medium frequency induction furnace can not keep up with the melting speed of the metal charge due to carbon increase. Even for the power frequency induction furnace with large stirring power, the carbon increase operation can not be ignored. This is because it can be seen from the smelting schematic diagram of the induction furnace that there are mixed iron flows separated from top to bottom in the induction furnace, and there are dead corners near the furnace wall at the boundary. If the molten iron is not overheated and kept warm for a long time, the graphite clusters retained and attached to the furnace wall cannot be melted into the molten iron. Excessive temperature rise and long-term thermal insulation will increase the undercooling of molten iron and easily increase the white cast iron. In addition, for the medium frequency induction furnace that generates strong induction current near the furnace wall, if molten iron is drilled between the graphite blocks attached to the furnace wall, the drilled metal will melt during the next smelting in the furnace, causing corrosion and damage to the furnace wall. Therefore, when the proportion of scrap is high and the amount of carburant is large, more attention should be paid to the addition of carburant.

The adding time of carburant should not be ignored. The carburetor is added too early, which is easy to adhere to the furnace bottom, and the carburetor attached to the furnace wall is not easy to melt into the molten iron. On the contrary, if the adding time is too late, the opportunity for carbon increase will be lost, resulting in slower smelting and heating time. This not only delays the time of chemical composition analysis and adjustment, but also may cause harm due to overheating. Therefore, it is better to add the carburetor bit by bit during the process of adding the metal charge.
